Balloon Spectacular

As great as my summer was, actually getting down to chronicling it is a pain in the ass. This entry is thus a thinly-veiled attempt to assuage my guilt for procrastinating… I kid, I don’t feel guilt, it’s more of a filler while I valiantly attempt to get my act together and start writing about Summer Part I.

The (Annual) Canberra Festival Balloon Spectacular was one of the many events organised this week to celebrate the Australian capital’s 98th birthday. We had to get up at 4:30am and trek Parkes just to catch the pilots inflating and setting off their balloons at 6:30am, but watching the mass of colourful baubles swarm into the sky against the backdrop of the Old Parliament House and Mount Ainslie was so worth it. Not to mention our decadent brunch at the Old Bus Depot, which helped to make me feel better about being awake so obscenely early on a Sunday morning.
